Is it necessary for me to groom my cat?

All cats benefit from regular brushing—whether short hair, medium hair, or long hair, as it helps keep a healthy coat. It also enables you to bond with your cat and keeps an eye out for any weird lumps or bumps, or weird scabs, ulcerations, or things like that.

Are cats hygienic?

Cats are pretty good at keeping themselves clean, but that doesn't mean they're perfect at it. And so I think that's where some regular brushing can help, and sometimes they even need a bath now and again.

Should I bathe my cat?

Yeah, the question is, do you want to bathe your cat and most people's answer is no. But the question is, should we? And that answer is yes. And so I generally recommend to people, at least every six months would be fantastic. The dermatologists will tell you that at least once a month will be best, but you just have to figure out what's best for you and your cat.

Is it safe to groom my cat?

As long as you're getting brushes and shampoos designed for cats, then everything should be a-okay.

How do cats groom themselves?

If a cat has ever licked you, you know they almost have a bristly-like tongue, and that helps them groom themselves. And they're very flexible so they can get to all of the areas around them, and they do a good job that way.

What grooming services do you offer here at Advanced?

So if you've got a cat who has a lot of mattes, or perhaps they've got long hair, or they’re a bit overweight, and they're having trouble getting back to the area around their bum, vulva, or their penis, we offer sanitary trims. We can shave your cat down for you if they're long-haired and you want them to be a little bit cooler for the summer and trim down their hair a bit. And then, of course, we also offer nail trims for cats.
