Veterinarian
Dr. Sears graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018.
She has been in the veterinary industry since she was 14 yrs old, working her way up from kennel assistant to technician and now a doctor of veterinary medicine. After graduation, she returned home to SC where she worked at a general practice for a few months before making the switch to emergency medicine in early 2019. She has been privileged to work at several emergency and trauma centers including MedVet Lexington and Jefferson Animal Hospital in Louisville.
She is Fear Free Certified - specializing in making veterinary visits less stressful for both pets and pet parents. Her special interests include pain management, animal nutrition, surgery, and improving the mental health and wellbeing of the veterinary profession.
She is married to the man of her dreams, Dr. Cole Sandow. He is an equine surgeon in Lexington, KY. They met down in Baton Rouge, LA where she completed her clinical year of vet school, attending Louisiana State University.
They have 5 incredible fur children: Kiana, a 15 year old Labrador Retriever and her heart dog. She may be up there in dog years but in her heart she is still a crazy 4yr old who loves to run, bark and play. Walker, a 12 year old labrador retriever and the cool, calm and collected one of the pack. Their first rescue, Willet, an uber smart 2 year old pitbull mix they adopted from the Lexington Pit Crew. Our second rescue, Lady, the 9 month old pitbull mix and beauty queen who was also adopted from the Lexington Pit Crew. And Violet, a mature adult beagle that was brought into Advanced Animal Care by a good samaritan after she had been hit by a car. Violet has been a foster with them for a while now but they think she might just stick around because seeing her run around in their back yard after what she has been through makes them so happy that they were able to give her a second chance!
In her spare time, if her and her husband aren't busy traveling around on one of our numerous adventures, she loves working out, doing literally anything outdoors, playing and/or watching sports and spending quality time with her friends. She also sings, paints and if she can catch a hip hop class with her friend, Ray, she's there!
